BATON ROUGE, La.–Giant garbage bags full of prescription pills, burglary tools and guns were all found Thursday when the state police in Louisiana searched homes of people charged in pharmacy burglaries. Some of those break-ins were pharmacies in Mississippi.
The investigation began in January, with burglaries in several parishes in Louisiana, said a news release from the narcotics division. This month search warrants were served and the homes of six people were looked over with a fine tooth comb for evidence they were involved in the break-ins.
Police say they found that evidence. They say burglary tools they found in the homes of Landell Womack, Shelton Broadway and Keeshla Stagg were the ones used in the burglaries.
Three other people were arrested on related charges.
It was what was found in the garbage bags that led back to Mississippi. It was plenty of Lortab, Oxycodone and other prescription narcotics.
The investigation is still going on.
