CLARKSDALE, Miss.–You could possibly see some rough weather in Mississippi late tonight, early Friday, and possible lasting through Friday afternoon in the east part of the state. It’s ahead of a cold front that is expected to drop highs for Saturday into the 70s.
“By the time it gets to Mississippi it’s gonna be probably after midnight,” said National Weather Service Meteorologist Katie McNeill. “There will be questions as to how unstable the atmosphere will be. We think the squall line will be weakening, but there could still be some strong to severe storms.”
McNeill said you can expect the possibility of damaging winds and hail, but she said she does not believe tornadoes will be a threat.
“It actually may continue across northeast Mississippi into Friday, into the afternoon.”
She said it’s a slow-moving front.
All of the state can expect thunderstorms into Friday morning.
