COLUMBUS, Miss.–Just before lunch on Wednesday the Rite Aid pharmacy on Hwy. 45 had a tense moment.
According to employees at the Rite Aid a man entered the store and approached the pharmacy counter.
“He pulled out a note, a yellow sticky note, and put in on the counter,” said employee Jennifer Woods. “The only thing I read on it was ‘I have a gun’ and it said something about Xanax.”
Woods told News Mississippi she remained calm and then spoke to the suspect.
She said she looked up at him and said, “Are you sure you want to do this?”
The suspect insisted that he needed the narcotics and kept alluding that he had a gun in his pocket according to Woods so the pharmacy staff filled his request.
“We never saw a gun,” said Woods.
In an odd twist the suspect kept saying he was sorry for robbing the place multiple times before he walked out of the store and fled the scene.
Employees at the Rite Aid location confirmed that the police did catch the suspect and brought him back to the store for identification.
“They parked him out by the road and he got out and it was definitely him,” confirmed Woods.
A call to the Columbus Police Department had not been returned at the time of publishing the article.
