COLUMBUS, Miss.–If your state senator was the late Terry Brown, you now have a chance to pick his replacement in the Mississippi Senate. Gov. Bryant has ordered a special election for Nov. 4.
The deadline to qualify is Oct. 6.
“In issuing this order I am ever mindful of the service to the people of Mississippi provided by my friend Terry Brown,” said Bryant. “He will be missed long past the next election.”
Brown served District 17 and died earlier this month of cancer.
If no candidate receives a majority of the votes cast in the special election, a runoff election will be held Nov. 25.
