SIMPSON COUNTY, Miss.  Bond has been denied for the Hattiesburg man and woman accused of killing the woman’s grandmother.

Kendrayla Keys and her boyfriend Curtrell Varnado had their first day in court Tuesday in Simpson County.  They are each charged with capital murder in the death of Neoma Durr, 67.

Durr’s husband found her in their home just outside of Magee Friday night.  Police said she was tied up and had been stabbed to death.

Keys and Varnado were not allowed to have court-appointed attorneys Tuesday.  Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for October 16 in Simpson County Justice Court.
