JACKSON, Miss.–It’s still summer and that means you still have a chance for those afternoon heat-related thunderstorms. You’ll probably want to take your rain gear with you for the rest of the week and into the weekend.
“We’re actually kinda stuck in the pattern going through these next couple of days and into the weekend,” said National Weather Service Meteorologist Jared Allen. “Certainly can’t rule out very localised strong or severe storms.”
But, he said severe weather will not be widespread.
“The overall risk is low, but we certainly have some isolated pockets of maybe some wind gust of 40 to 60 mph, some heavy rainfall and lightening with some of these storms.”
Highs will be in the mid 90s, but it will be cooler with storms.
Allen said Tropical Storm Dolly will have no affect on Mississippi weather. It’s expected to affect northern Mexico, and that’s a long way away.
“It’s forecast to stay south of Texas and certainly nowhere close to here in Mississippi.”
