JACKSON, Miss.–GEt ready for rain Monday, especially if you live in the Hwy. 82 corridor, down to I-20. That’s where the heaviest precip will be, said the National Weather Service, and you should make sure the AC is in tip top shape for the heat that’s coming later this week.
August will make itself apparent after the rain moves out. You can expect highs in the upper 90s by Wednesday.
“Looks like we’re going to maintain the humidity, so we’re gonna have to watch those heat index values,” said Meteorologist Mike Edmunston. “A heat advisory for the weekend is not out of the question.”
Before that, it’s rain. There’s a weather system that should move through the area starting mid-morning to late afternoon, that’ll bring the potential for storms that “train” over the same areas over and over. That could cause some places to get several inches of rain.
“There is a limited risk of some flash flooding,” said Edmunston.
He said it’ll exit east, but east Mississippi could get more rain Tuesday.
