JACKSON, Miss.–If you had power outages, trees or limbs down, or you had to drive on wet highways and roads Sunday, you need to know that it is possible yet again Monday afternoon and evening.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Chad Entremont said that a “good portion” of Mississippi would be under threat for storms that could bring heavy rain, and there may even be strong to severe thunderstorms, with lightening and strong winds.
“But they may be moving a little bit faster than the ones yesterday,” he said. “But still you can get a quick downpour that may total up to two inches or so.”
He said the main risk will be between 3 and 9 p.m.
“Afternoon to early evening as the storms get a little bit better organized.”
There was flooding Sunday afternoon in the Capital City on some city streets. Yazoo City also saw some localized flooding in the same area where 9-year-old Petrauna Hudson drowned in April.
Police made sure no one was out playing in the flood waters.
