JACKSON, Miss.–If you got damage from yesterday’s pop-up storms, you might be a little skiddish seeing another 30 percent chance of afternoon storms. But, the National Weather Service tells News Mississippi you actually can expect fewer storms, and probably zero storms north.
The afternoon storms brought lightening and wind that brought down trees, power lines and caused cable problems.
News Mississippi got several Tweets about Comcast customers having problems in central Mississippi. Entergy crews reported several thousand customers without power in the Jackson Metro.
In Leake County, there were trees down along Hwy. 15. In Yazoo County there was some dime-size hail, said Meteorologist Mark McAllister.
“Some of the higher rainfall amounts were generally over an inch, but not everybody got the rainfall,” he said.
But there’s another chance you could get a storm this afternoon.
“Today the storms are gonna have some less coverage. I’m going for just a low chance of rain along and south of Interstate 20, but a few of those storms could be on the strong side.”
