LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. – A three-year-old boy has drowned in a river in Lowndes County.
Landon Henson, of West Point, was boating with his family Sunday afternoon on the Tombigbee River when the accident happened. Coroner Greg Merchant said the toddler got into the water without the family noticing him. Searchers found his body just north of DeWayen Hayes Recreation and tried to revive him with CPR. Henson was pronounced dead at Baptist Medical Center in Columbus. Merchant said they are investigating but it appears the death was a tragic accident.
