OXFORD, Miss. – How would you like a nice cold drink of the nasty? The city of Oxford does not, which is why they are putting up $1 million dollars in next year’s budget to battle brown water. The city’s public works director, Bart Robinson, says he believes the problem is caused by old, unlined, cast-iron pipes that are still in the downtown area.
He also says this has been a problem for the city in the past, as early as the 1940s. The city is working with engineers to help pinpoint where the problem still lies so they can fix it.
