Stealing Money From a Nursing Home Resident: Indianola Woman Charged Monday

INDIANOLA, Miss.–If your mom or grandmother or grandfather is in a nursing home, this story might tick you off just a bit. An Indianola woman was arrested Monday after she was accused of stealing money from the wallet of a nursing home resident.

Francine Byrd Brown, 51, was charged  with felony exploitation of a vulnerable person, said Atty. Gen. Jim Hood, who said the Medicaid Fraud Division of his office made the arrest.

Brown was a resident assistant at a personal care home in Indianola, which Hood declined to name in a news release. He said that Brown may have started stealing from the resident’s wallet about June 20, up until her arrest.

Now she could get ten years and a $10,000 if she’s found guilty. The amount missing: just over $300.
