JACKSON, Miss.–It was a burglary call Tuesday morning in the Bel Air neighborhood of Jackson. Hours later Helen Harrion, 67, was found dead behind her house. She was beaten, only partially clothed and possibly raped, said the Hinds County Coroner.
Police got a call early Tuesday morning about a burglary. Neighbors in the area told media that police knocked on the door, but nobody answered.
About 1 Tuesday afternoon, her body was found.
Police cuffed two men later, but no one has been arrested. Neighbors to WJTV that they believe the burglars knew she lived alone and that’s why she was targeted.
Those neighbors also think she may have fired a shot at the burglars.
