Tennessee’s “Top 10 Most Wanted” Fugitive Arrested in Mississippi

COLUMBUS, Miss.- One of Tennessee’s “Top 10 Most Wanted” was caught in Columbus around 1 a.m. on Sunday.

The Chattanooga man was recently added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s “Most Wanted” list after TBI said 31-year-old Cashman J. Perkins was wanted for criminal homicide, aggravated domestic assault, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

He is also wanted for failure to appear on an unlawful possession of a weapon charge, and violation of probation for possession of marijuana.

On June 8, 2014, Chattanooga Police responded to Woodland View Circle in Chattanooga after Perkins fatally shot 40-year-old Francis Smith. The motive and exact circumstances surrounding the homicide are still under investigation.

U.S. Marshals with the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force made the arrest after finding Perkins in a home with a female acquaintance.

He is being held without bond in Mississippi and is expected to be extradited to Tennessee.
