HOUSTON, Tx.–The surgery to remove a mass from the right side of rep. Alan Nunnelee’s brain was a success, said a spokesperson for the Congressman’s family. But, he’s experiencing some complications that will have him in a rehab next week.
Nunnelee represents Mississippi’s 1st District (northeast Miss.) in Washington, and started feeling ill last month on the House floor. He went to a D.C. hospital at the advice of the House doctor, where the mass was discovered.
His surgery happened at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, a world-renowned facility.
Doctors are hoping to move Nunnelee from the hospital to a rehab facility next week. The complications he’s experiencing include hampered speech and some loss of mobility on his left side.
The family has expressed thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts from Nunnelee’s constituents.
Nunnelee will face Democrat Ron Dickey for the 1st District seat in the general election in November.
