JACKSON, Miss. – No charges will be brought against three members of Mississippi’s Tea Party who found themselves locked inside the Hinds County courthouse early Wednesday morning.
Hinds County Sheriff Department investigators said they have no reason to believe Janis Lane, Scott Brester and Ron Chambers engaged in any criminal activity. “Our investigation revealed that the three individuals were able to enter the courthouse through a side-door marked for employees only,” said spokesperson Othor Cain in a written statement. “This door was either propped-open or was malfunctioning at the time of entry.”
Cain said ballots from Tuesday night’s elections were in a secured vault during the time the three Chris McDaniel supporters were inside the building.
