MERIDIAN, Miss. – A 13-year-old has died after his broken down ATV broke free from the Jeep towing it, veered into the wrong lane and was hit on a Lauderdale County road.
Samuel Johnson was on the ATV as it was being towed by his friends. Investigators said it was attached to the Jeep by a winch cable; and when the Jeep slowed to avoid a pick-up truck, the ATV swerved into oncoming traffic and hit the driver’s side of the truck.
Johnson died at a Meridian hospital. The driver of the truck was hurt, but expected to survive.
