JACKSON, Miss.–Stealing IDs and using them to doctor shop and then sell the pills is the charge against Sylvia Cook, 59, of Jackson. Atty. Gen. Jim Hood said it was a seven-month investigation by both Mississippi and Louisiana police that ended with her arrest this week.
Hood said Cook would steal people’s identities, then use them to go to different doctors in both states, fake being sick, then take the pills she got from the prescriptions and sell them.
She now faces multiple identity theft and prescription forgery charges that could land her in prison for up to 30 years and a fine of $60,000 if she’s convicted.
