NATCHEZ, Miss.- A huge school fight ended with 17 students arrested and the principal resigning.
Natchez Police Chief Danny White, Alderman Ricky Gray, the Natchez NAACP president, Natchez High parents and some teachers and coaches met Wednesday to discuss the incident.
Natchez Police Department Detective Jerry Ford told the Natchez Democrat, “17 students were arrested Monday after police received a call about a fight in the gymnasium. The juveniles were jailed briefly and charged with disturbing the peace.” Their names were not released.
Principal Fred Butcher turned in his resignation letter Tuesday after the large fight broke out Monday.
None of the parents were notified before the students were arrested.
