Trooper Accused of Rape: Investigation Going to Grand Jury

SUMMIT, Miss.–Rape by a state trooper is what a woman in Pike County is alleging. Now the case is headed to the grand jury and so far, no arrests have been made.

The local paper, the Enterprise Journal, reported that a woman’s brother was stopped a trooper in April. She said that she came to the scene when her brother called her. She said that when she got there, troopers had her blow into the Breathalyzer and told her she was under arrest for driving drunk.

The paper said that once her brother left with the other trooper, the woman claims she was put in the back of an MHP patrol car and driven somewhere else, where she was raped.

She was not arrested, but immediately went to the hospital.

When asked for comment by TV station WAPT, MHP spokesman Warren Strain said it was a personnel issue and there was no comment.

The grand jury meets in June.
