MURDER IN MERIDIAN, THREE CHARGED
It was a cruel way to go after living 87 years, now three people have been charged with killing Billy Putnam. He was the man shot and killed in front of Vowell’s Market in Meridian on Mother’s Day. WTOK reporting that the guy police think did the shooting was 16 years old. Shon Byrd charged with armed robbery and capital murder. DeCarlos Clark, 36, and Veronica Ferguson, 20, were charged with accessory after-the-fact.
DUI KILLINGS
If you drive drunk and somebody gets hurt, you will go to prison. That’s the message Robert Shawn Hunt got this week. It’s ten in the pen for the DeSoto County crash that killed ER nurse Timothy Brigman and seriously hurt his six-year-old son Ryan.
It’s 30 years for Deborah Patton of Marion County after the DUI wreck that killed 5-year-old Ella Formby. Patton rear-ended the car that Forby was riding in. She pleaded guilty to DUI manslaughter and DUI mayhem.
YOUNG LADIES FOUND SAFE IN MERIDIAN
These young ladies were missing, now Meridian Police say they are both home safe. Stephanie Toole, who News Mississippi told you about last week, and Bianca Roland, who ran away from home.
CRANE FALLS, GUY PINNED
Pinned between a piece of heavy equipment and solid concrete. This happened in the capital city Monday morning when a crane fell over while the crew was working on a bridge. The guy managed to get away with just some minor injuries, but it looks like the contractor may have to answer for the crane falling over. It’s supposed to have enough stabelizers and counterweights to keep that from happening.
COLUMBUS SUPERINTENDENT
If you’re a healer, if you’re a fixit person and if you’re a great communicator, you might be the next choice for superintendent of Columbus schools. You also need to be an educator, by the way. They’re starting up their search, about a year after the firing of Martha Liddell.
