TEXT MESSAGE MURDER
The shooting that started with a text message in Wayne County and ended with Belinda Walters dead in 2012. Forrest Johnston was found guilty of manslaughter Thursday. His mother Mary was convicted Wednesday of simple assault in the shooting. The text messages were said in testimony to have been inappropriate messages sent from Johnston, 21, to Walters’ 13-year-old daughter.
HO– USE SHOT UP
If you’ve ever been shot at, the 11 people inside a home in Toomsuba in Lauderdale County can tell ya it’s pretty scary. It happened 1:30 Thursday morning, reported WTOK TV. Nobody got hurt, but Sheriff Billy Sollie says he’s looking for whoever shot into the house.
MAN KILLED BY TRACTOR
Chickasaw County, being run over by a tractor is how Everett Holmes of Woodland died Thursday, says the county coroner. He died at the hospital. The coroner thinks he might’ve had a heart attack and fallen off the tractor before it ran over him.
NEW MERIDIAN CHIEF
Drugs and gangs are what you’ll have to fight if you’re Meridian’s new police chief. Mayor Percy Bland says the search is on after he fired chief James Lee this week. He’s looking for you if you’ve been the chief of a city the size of Meridian and can handle the job.
BOND SET FOR ACC– USED HOLD UP MAN
Three guns pointed at you when you get home and get out of the car. It happened to a couple Monday in Madison and one of the guys police say did it likely won’t be getting out on bail. The judge set bond Thursday at $1.3 million for Drodriquez Williams of Jackson.

If you’re going somewhere this weekend, you’ll find the cheapest gas in Mississippi in Southaven and Horn Lake at $3.22. State average is $3.44 per gallon.
