JACKSON, Miss. – Mississippi gets more help for tornado recovery. Governor Phil Bryant signed a bill passed by the Mississippi legislature during a special session Thursday, allowing MEMA to have access to $17 million in order to pay back governments for cleaning up storm debris. That money was transferred out of the state’s car tag reduction fund, and no, it will not make your car tag cost more.
Originally Bryant asked for legislature to approve up to $20 million. Initial estimates said last week’s storms did over $13.5 million in damages.
