PHOENIX, Ariz.–Marion Edward Garnett is dead after trying to shoot it out with police in Phoenix during a Saturday bank robbery. Just over a week ago he murdered Tupelo Police Officer Gale Stauffer and shot his partner Joseph Maher. Now Phoenix police have released the 911 tape from someone who saw Garnett meet his fate.
Garnett had just gotten out of jail in July, serving 12 months for a probation violation. He was on probation after serving time in 2011 for threatening the president.
Garnett is from Oklahoma City and tried to rob a bank in Atlanta last Monday before moving on to Tupelo that afternoon.
He finally resurfaced in Phoenix Saturday, ending the nation-wide search.
