Tupelo— The Barretos have been on the run since 2009. Tuesday, that run ended in Oregon.
Janet and Ramon Barreto. They took off in 2009 from Union County after getting out of jail on a $450,000 bond. The Barretos were wanted for the manslaughter death of their 2-year old adopted daughter, but she wasn’t the only child. The Barretos had eight other illegally adopted Guatemalan children that they abused by binding them to the bed with duct tape, punching them in stomach and holding their heads under water.
The couple is now in police custody in Portland, Oregon and the US Marshall service is expected to make a statement at a press conference in Oxford today.
