Five Southern Miss football players have been awarded All-Sun Belt Conference honors.
Leading the way was junior Frank Gore, Jr., who was the only Golden Eagle to land on either the first or second team. Gore was selected as a second-team running back and second-team all-purpose player after finishing the season with 1,352 total yards and 13 touchdowns.
Four others – defensive lineman Quentin Bivens, linebacker Swayze Bozeman, defensive back Jay Stanley, and wide receiver Jakarius Caston – earned honorable mention nods.
Bivens registered 32 tackles, including 2.5 for loss, and a half sack. He also had two fumble recoveries. Bozeman had 54 tackles in 10 games with four for loss and a half sack. Stanley led the defense in forcing turnovers with five to go along with 61 tackles.
Caston topped the offensive stat sheet with 621 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He was also a threat on special teams, including a 98-yard kickoff return touchdown against Mississippi State.
