GREENWOOD, Miss. – Up to 450 new jobs could be coming to Leflore County. Bill Crump, chairman of the Greenwood-Leflore Economic Development Foundation says the county is working with several different companies that want to locate in the county.
“Some of them are as many has 200 jobs some are as few as 25 jobs,” said Crump. “All the companies we are working with new we have confidentiality agreements with and can’t divulge the names of the companies.”
Crump says three companies are looking to move into the Greenwood airport and if all three set up shop it could mean 100 new jobs. Also, a local company in the county is looking to expand, which would add 200 new jobs. A processing plant looking to locate to the county could create 50 jobs. Two possible additions to the Greenwood-Leflore Industrial park could net 50 jobs, and a retail company, that is looking to build a 10,000-square-foot building off Mississippi 7, could bring in another 25 jobs.
