JACKSON, Miss. — You may see protesters outside of the state’s last abortion clinic until April. Members of Pro Life Mississippi and others will be recognizing 40 Days of Life, a nationwide program where individuals pray and fast for the next 40 days with hopes of ending abortion.
The kick off for the event was Tuesday outside of the Jackson Women’s Health Organization. Several pickets were crammed along the sidewalk near the clinic.
Currently the clinic is undergoing a legal battle after it was unable to comply with a new state law requiring physician’s in the clinic to have admitting privileges to hospitals. Southern District Judge, Dan Jordan, III blocked the state from closing the Jackson Women’s Health Organization back in 2012.
The state is asking the 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals to overturn the Judge’s ruling. Arguments are now scheduled to begin at the end April or the beginning of May.
