JACKSON, Miss. – More Mississippians are looking for work.
Jobless numbers have come in for December and the state didn’t generate enough jobs to absorb the more people looking for work.
6.4 percent of the state is out of work. That’s about 83,000 people. In November, the state was doing a tad better with only a 6 percent jobless rate.
It’s bad news all across the board as Mississippi remains well above the national unemployment rate of 5 percent and has the third highest jobless rate across the country.
