BILOXI, Miss. – A dead dolphin has been found washed ashore in Biloxi. Officials believe the death to be due to the red tide algae bloom.
The dolphin along with smaller fish were found dead Thursday morning. Marine Mammal Studies Executive Director Moby Solangi told WLBT that the dolphin was around 4 to 5 months old and is believed to be the first sea mammal to have been found dead following the algae bloom.
Solongi says that the red tide is the worst he’s seen at this point of the year.
