District 38 Senator Kelvin Butler sworn in

District 38 Senator Kelvin E. Butler was sworn in Tuesday by Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann, to serve the unexpired term of Senator Tammy Witherspoon.  She resigned her seat on June 30th and was sworn in July 1st as mayor of Magnolia.

Butler previously served 12 years in the Senate before launching an unsuccessful run for Pike County Chancery Clerk. He was defeated by Witherspoon in his 2019 attempt to regain the District 38 Senate seat and won it back in the November 2nd special election.

District 38 includes Wilkinson County and parts of Adams, Amite, Pike and Walthall counties.
