207 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Mississippi

The state’s total number of confirmed coronavirus cases has surpassed 200. 

The Mississippi State Department of Health reported 67 new cases of the virus on Sunday morning, bringing the total up to 207. The virus has now been confirmed in 52 of Mississippi’s 82 counties.

Hinds County currently has the highest number of cases with 20, and DeSoto has the 2nd highest total with 18 cases. 

As testing efforts ramp up in Mississippi, the MSDH announced that they’ll be setting up six drive-up testing sites across the state with assistance from the National Guard and the Mississippi Highway Patrol. 

Additional details, including the location of the sites, have not been released at this time. The MSDH did state that the sites are aimed at those with COVID-19 symptoms such as fever of 100.4 or greater and severe cough or chest pain.
