On Friday, the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) announced the recipients of the 2024 Mr. Football award for each of the state’s even classifications.

Presented by C Spire, Mr. Football award winners are:

  • Class 1A: QB Tyshun Willis, Velma Jackson
  • Class 2A: QB/DB Adarius McDougle, Sebastopol
  • Class 3A: QB KaMario Taylor, Noxubee County
  • Class 4A: QB Coby King, Greene County
  • Class 5A: QB Paul “Trey” Irving, Gautier
  • Class 6A: QB/DB Tony “Deuce” Vance, Hattiesburg
  • Class 7A: RB/KR Jaeden “JJ” Hill, Tupelo

Among this year’s winners, McDougle is the only player on the list to repeat as Mr. Football while Willis helped Velma Jackson keep the award on-campus after Gavin Griffin won it last season. Full stats for the 2024 winners can be found here.

The awards, which are jointly decided on by a committee of high school coaches and media members, will be presented to the winners during a luncheon at the MHSAA Conference Center on Wednesday, November 20. Additionally, each winner will be recognized during the state championships in Hattiesburg from December 5-7.
