The 2023 high school softball season has reached an end in Mississippi with six teams being crowned champions.
Below is the final score for each classification’s championship game.
Class 1A:
Hamilton 9, Sebastapol 2.
The Lady Lions took home the state trophy courtesy of a dominant offensive performance highlighted by nine runs off of eight hits.
Class 2A:
East Union 3, Loyd Star 1.
East Union’s “bend, but don’t break” defense paired with a few timely runs earned the team a championship victory. The Lady Urchins only allowed one earned run to be scored on eight hits against the pitching unit.
Class 3A:
Booneville 7, West Marion 4.
With seven runs off of 13 hits, Booneville’s red-hot bats led the way for the Lady Devils to win back-to-back state titles.
Class 4A:
West Lauderdale 4, North Pike 0.
West Lauderdale pieced together a well-rounded game both offensively and defensively to earn the state title. The Mighty Knights’ pitching staff allowed neither a hit nor a run in the team’s most crucial game of the season.
Class 5A:
George County 2, Saltillo 1.
Pitching was the catalyst that crowned George County as 5A champs. The Lady Rebels only allowed two total hits throughout the game.
Class 6A:
Northwest Rankin 4, South Panola 2.
The Lady Cougars had an eye for the ball during the championship game, scoring four runs off of eight hits.
