LUCEDALE, Miss.-A two school bus collision has left nearly 20 students injured.
Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Benjamin Seibert told The Sun Herald that two buses were both eastbound at 3:23 p.m. Wednesday on Mississippi 26 in George County. He said the first bus stopped to let students off and the second rear-ended it.
Seibert said 20 students, from first grade to seniors, were initially taken to George Regional Hospital for injuries mostly consisting of lacerations, bruises and sprains. He said one child suffered a broken leg and a 9-year-old girl was taken to a hospital in Mobile, Alabama with serious injuries.
Seibert said the girl was released from the hospital Wednesday night and all but five of the other children had been released from the emergency room.
Police are currently investigating the incident.
