As severe weather crossed central Mississippi on Tuesday afternoon, two people died as a result, confirmed by Gov. Tate Reeves.
“We’ve received reports of two fatalities as a result of today’s severe weather,” Reeves wrote on social media. “Please join [First Lady Elee Reeves] and me in praying for their families.”

Per reports from WLBT-TV, both fatalities happened in Madison County. A male victim was electrocuted to death by a downed power line in the Roses Bluff subdivision. Reservoir Police responded to the scene.
The other death happened along the Natchez Trace near Highway 43 when a passenger vehicle was crushed by a tree. Two people were inside the car, with the male driver dying and the other being transported to a local hospital. Gluckstadt Police responded to the scene.
The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
