Two people are injured following a Facebook Marketplace sale gone wrong in the parking lot of Burlington Coat Factory in Jackson.

On Monday, police investigated the incident that took place at the outlet on 1053 East County Line Road. Detectives learned that an unidentified male met Chanceler Holmes, 24, and Shaneque McAbee, 34, to complete a transaction made online.

Holmes and McAbee had reportedly responded to an advertisement to sell an item he had posted on the social media retail platform. Both parties agreed to meet at Burlington Coat Factory.

Upon arrival, Holmes allegedly attempted to rob the seller of his property, resulting in an exchange of gunfire. Both individuals were wounded and transported to a local hospital to be treated for injuries sustained at the scene.

Law enforcement’s investigation led to McAbee being arrested and charged with accessory to robbery. She appeared in court Tuesday morning and received a $175,000 bond. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Holmes, who is still in the hospital.

Holmes will be charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, and shooting into an occupied vehicle. Anyone with additional information related to this case is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (601)355-8477 or the Jackson Police Department at (601)960-1234.
