Two top federal prosecutors in Mississippi have stepped down and been replaced.
Gregory Davis, U.S. attorney for southern Mississippi and Felicia Adams, U.S. attorney for northern Mississippi both resigned after a request from the U.S. Attorney General. AG Jeff Sessions asked on Friday for all U.S. attorneys appointed by President Barak Obama, step down.
Davis was replaced by Harold Brittain. Adams was replaced by Robert Norman.
This was the statement released by the Department of Justice regarding the request:
“As was the case in prior transitions, many of the United States Attorneys nominated by the previous administration already have left the Department of Justice. The Attorney General has now asked the remaining 46 presidentially appointed U.S. Attorneys to tender their resignations in order to ensure a uniform transition. Until the new U.S. Attorneys are confirmed, the dedicated career prosecutors in our U.S. Attorney’s Offices will continue the great work of the Department in investigating, prosecuting, and deterring the most violent offenders.”

Davis had served since 2012 and before that was a private lawyers. Adams had been serving since 2011 and worked as a federal prosecutor from 1989 to 2010.
