An investigation in Southaven has led to the discovery of tens of thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise and the arrests of two individuals as part of a multi-million-dollar theft operation.
In late February, detectives from the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and the local SWAT team assisted the Union Pacific Railroad Police in executing residential search warrants at two locations in Southaven.
Per officials, this action by law enforcement was part of a long-term investigation into the theft of approximately $2 million in Milwaukee Tools merchandise from cargo containers. Local authorities coordinated with the federal counterparts from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives task force officers and FBI task force officers.
During the searches, authorities recovered:
- Over $30,000 worth of Milwaukee Tools
- A stolen Harley-Davidson motorcycle
- A stolen Can-Am Renegade ATV
- A Glock pistol equipped with a machine gun conversion device
As a result, police took Macon Herron and Manuel Donis, both Mississippi natives, into custody. Herron is charged with two counts of felony receiving stolen property and prohibited possession of a machine gun conversion device. He also had an active warrant for his arrest out of Crittenden County, Arkansas.
Donis was arrested as a fugitive from justice and had an active warrant from the same Arkansas County. Authorities are continuing to investigate the theft ring. More charges are expected.
