Authorities in Itta Bena have confirmed a weekend shooting took place on the campus of Mississippi Valley State University.
Gunfire was reported Sunday around 1:30 a.m. coming from the parking lot of the Jacob Aron Student Union. Two individuals were injured with the university since confirming that neither of the victims were students.
The shooting is being investigated by local law enforcement.
Monday is the first day of classes at Mississippi Valley State.
