Two Gulfport women are locked up for their role in a series of crimes that resulted in the death of a baby.
On October 18, the Gulfport Police Department was contacted by Child Protective Services regarding a complaint of child abuse. Savannah Galle Reynolds, 23, was taken into custody two days later.
It was discovered Reynolds was 37 weeks pregnant when she gave birth to a child who later died. Lab results revealed THC, amphetamines, and fentanyl were present in the infant’s system upon birth.
Detectives were able to determine that Reynolds had taken multiple pills containing fentanyl and methamphetamine during and up to a week before giving birth.
Through further investigation, detectives found that Dawn Marie White, 30, had sold fentanyl to Reynolds on several occasions. The two even conspired to purchase fentanyl for Reynolds while live-saving measures were actively being done to Reynolds’ infant before he was pronounced deceased.
White was arrested on Tuesday and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center for conspiracy. Reynolds is behind bars for felonious child abuse. She is also being held in the Harrison County Adult Detention Center.
