Two people from Georgia are behind bars after getting caught on a Mississippi interstate with over 50 pounds of pot.

Deputies with the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Department pulled over Ty’jhai Davis, 21, of Loganville, Ga., and Cally Pusey, 23, of Covington, Ga., during a routine traffic stop on Interstate 22. Upon approaching the vehicle, law enforcement said a “strong odor of marijuana was detected emitting from the vehicle.”

After searching the vehicle, large bags were found in the trunk – all of which contained individual packages of marijuana. The grand total came in at north of 50 pounds.

Davis and Pusey were booked at the Pontotoc County Adult Detention Center on trafficking charges with each perpetrator’s bond being set at $15,000.

This is the latest marijuana crackdown for law enforcement in Pontotoc County after earlier instances this year included seizing 140 pounds from a different Georgia native and over 1,200 pounds from a California driver traveling to North Carolina.
