Law enforcement in Claiborne County have taken into custody two inmates who escaped early Friday morning.
According to the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department, Tyrekennel Collins, 24, and Dezarrious Johnson, 28, were captured inside an abandoned home on Bridwell Lane in Port Gibson on Saturday. The two broke out of the county detention center around 2:20 a.m. Friday.
“We ensure our heartfelt thanks to the citizens of Claiborne County for your unwavering support and trust in our department,” an official statement from the CCSD read after Collins and Johnson were found.
CCSD was assisted by the Adams County Sheriff’s Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, Warren County Sheriff’s Department, Port Gibson Police Department, Copiah County Sheriff’s Department, Rankin County Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, and U.S. marshals in the manhunt.
Collins and Johnson will now face additional charges, which could result in an extra five years behind bars for each. Both were originally being held on charges of murder.
