Jackson police have arrested a pair of brothers after a man’s body was found in a Rankin County creek.
Authorities found the body of a man, later identified as 29-year-old Dan Belton, lying deceased with multiple gunshot wounds in Richland Creek on Old Highway 49 on Tuesday, September 19.
After investigating, officers took 26-year-old Justin Thurmond into custody on Thursday at a location on North State Street. Two days later, a second suspect — 21-year-old Jordan Thurmond — was located on East Pascagoula Street and detained on Saturday.
While Belton’s body was found in Rankin County, police believe he was killed in Jackson.
The Thurmond brothers are charged with murder. Anyone with further information about the incident is asked to contact JPD.
