One Mississippi lottery player has become a millionaire after matching all five winning numbers during Monday night’s Powerball drawing, with the grand prize totaling $1 million.
The winning ticket, which was sold at Sprint Mart #27 in Corinth, had the winning numbers 16-30-31-54-68 with a Powerball of 1 and a Power Play of 2.
If the player had purchased the Power Play option for an additional dollar, it would have doubled their winnings to a total $2 million.
Officials with the Mississippi Lottery added that 23 players were given extra winnings of $2,500 at the Lottery Claims Center in March, with each individual being randomly selected to receive the Double-Luck prize money each day.
“To show our players how much we appreciate them, we decided to add in a fun surprise during the month of March. Each day, one visitor to headquarters was given an unexpected $2,500 on top of whatever amount they were collecting,” said Mississippi Lottery President Jeff Hewitt. “Players loved it!”
