All lanes are still blocked off after an 18-wheeler crashed into the Ross Barnett Reservoir on MS 43 near the Madison/Rankin County line last night.
Reports say that a pick-up truck hauling a boat in the southbound lane crossed into the northbound lane in the path of the 18-wheeler.
The 18-wheeler swerved into the reservoir to avoid a head on collision, and the pick-up truck hauling the boat collided with another pick-up truck that was behind the 18-wheeler. No-one was injured in the accident.
The truck was removed around sunrise this morning and crews worked to remove diesel fuel from the water. They are still cleaning up the scene and the road will not be open before midday today.
