An 18-wheeler overturning while carrying a truckload of bees was the buzz around Natchez on Sunday night.
According to WLBT, the incident happened at 11:30 p.m. on Highway 61 in front of Merit Health and wasn’t cleared until Monday at 7 a.m.
While medics checked out the truck driver, who was unharmed, first ‘beesponders’ from Adee Honey Farm in Woodville rushed to the scene and smoked the area. The smoke helped keep the bees relaxed until the hives could be loaded into another truck and transported back to Woodville.
According to officials, no one was stung as the combination of smoke, a covering over the hives, and it being dark outside was the perfect recipe for the bees not to flee the scene.
