After 18 Mississippi airports received more than $8 million in funding to upgrade their facilities earlier this week, a new batch of just under $5.4 million is going out to 17 other airports, bringing the total to more than $13 million in grants.

The Airport Grant funding, awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration, will go towards the improvement of hangars, perimeter fencing and gates, fuel facilities, and runway lighting at the airports.

“It’s not a bad day when I can say Mississippi has received $13 million in a week to upgrade airports,” U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., said. “Every dollar will better position our state.”
