A teenager is dead after being flung off an ATV, according to the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies responded Saturday at 3:23 p.m. to an area near 359 Old Highway 80 in Pelahatchie in reference to an ATV crash. Upon arriving, they found 16-year-old Roshea Rodriguez McCoy, Jr. in cardiac arrest and suffering from a head injury.
As medical units tried to perform lifesaving measures, the teen passed away.
A preliminary investigation found the ATV suffered a tire failure, resulting in McCoy being ejected off the four-wheeler.
