On Sunday, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 14-year-old juvenile believed to have murdered another teenager.
According to Sheriff Matt Haley, at approximately 2:30 p.m., deputies responded to the 13000 block of Robindale Road in Gulfport after a reported shooting. Upon arrival, a 16-year-old male was found in the street with one gunshot wound to the abdomen area.
The victim – later identified as Charlie “CJ” Fairley – was subsequently airlifted to the University of South Alabama Children’s Hospital in Mobile, Ala., where he succumbed to his injuries.
Further investigation determined a fistfight occurred between the suspect and the victim, which resulted in the victim being shot.
The 14-year-old suspect, whose identity has not been released at this time, was booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility and is charged with second-degree murder. He is being held in lieu of a $1 million bond set by Justice Court Judge Brandon Ladner.
